Tottenham Make Shock Bid for Liverpool Captain Andrew Robertson
Tottenham are eyeing Liverpool's Andrew Robertson in January to solve their left-back crisis. Will he leave Anfield after nearly a decade?

Tottenham Hotspur have made a formal approach to Liverpool for Andrew Robertson, as reported by The Guardian. The left-back looks set to leave Anfield after nearly a decade to join Spurs in London this January.
At 31 years old, Robertson's contract runs until 30 June 2026, but with that expiry date less than six months away, he’s eager to settle his future quickly. This urgency means the transfer could move swiftly.
The urgency is further heightened by Tottenham’s injury crisis at left-back. Ben Davies suffered an ankle fracture this season and will be sidelined long-term, forcing the club to rely on right-sided Djed Spence as cover. Spurs are now pushing Liverpool for a bargain deal to fill the void.
Robertson almost moved on last summer too. The signing of Milos Kerkez cut into his playing time, and there were links to Atletico Madrid, which never came to pass. This season, Robertson has started just 11 of 21 games. Now he’s looking for a move that not only brings a fee to Liverpool but also guarantees him more minutes on the pitch in the capital. As Scotland’s captain at the upcoming World Cup, maintaining match fitness is crucial.
This transfer would close a significant chapter for Liverpool. Since joining from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has been central to Jurgen Klopp’s rise, forming a formidable left-right wing-back partnership with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who moved on to Real Madrid last year.
In nine seasons, he’s racked up 363 appearances for the Reds, hitting 12 goals and providing 67 assists. His time at Liverpool has brought numerous trophies:
- Two Premier League titles
- One Champions League title
- An FA Cup
- Two League Cups
- A Community Shield
- A UEFA Super Cup
- A Club World Cup
