Kobbie Mainoo will remain at Manchester United this month, according to Fabrizio Romano, even though the young midfielder previously wanted to leave on loan.

Kobbie Mainoo, who was sidelined under Ruben Amorim, started the Premier League opener under Michael Carrick and delivered an impressive performance in the 2-0 win.

Manchester United were never fully convinced about letting the 20-year-old go, but they were reluctantly open to the idea if he stayed on the bench.

Now, however, the Premier League club sees no reason to part ways with Mainoo, who has Carrick's full trust.

This is bad news for Napoli and other clubs that had made inquiries about a possible loan.
