At Barcelona, Dani Olmo has become the go-to player when the stakes are highest. Though he does not always start matches, he steps up when it counts most.

His most recent impact was felt in the clash against Slavia Prague. After a defensive clearance, Olmo angled a powerful right-footed shot into the far corner, breaking the 2-2 deadlock and giving Barcelona a vital 3-2 lead.

Shortly after, Robert Lewandowski put the result beyond doubt, helping Hansi Flick's side keep their hopes alive for a top-eight finish.

This season hasn't been easy for Olmo. Despite appearing 23 times, he’s started only 11 games, often affected by minor injuries and competition from Fermin Lopez.

Still, Olmo's knack for delivering at key moments hasn’t faded. His goal in Prague marked his sixth official tally this year — or seven including his efforts for Spain — putting him back on par with his career scoring average. The true measure of his contribution lies not in how many goals he scores, but when he scores them.

Five of his seven goals this season have either put Barcelona ahead or opened the scoring. He first rose to prominence for Spain against Turkey in World Cup qualifying, firing home the opener just minutes after kickoff in a 2-2 draw.

At the club level, he netted twice in a comeback victory over Deportivo Alaves and later scored a decisive second-half winner at Camp Nou against Atletico Madrid, underlining his ability to change tight games in his team's favor.

In Prague, Olmo was summoned early to replace an injured Pedri. Despite entering the match cold after just two minutes on the pitch, he delivered the crucial strike.

This capacity to perform instantly under pressure defines his role as Barcelona's clutch performer—someone who steps in, embraces risk, and produces when it matters most.

Across his Barcelona tenure, nine of Olmo’s 18 goals have either put the team ahead, opened the scoring, or secured wins. With Pedri out, Olmo now has a chance to reclaim a starting spot and shoulder greater responsibility.

His key goal in the Czech capital should boost his confidence as he prepares for Barcelona’s next challenge against Real Oviedo. The Tarrasa-born forward will be eager to maintain his reputation for turning games around, proving that even outside the spotlight, he’s among the club’s most dependable match-winners.
