Jan Diomande’s long-awaited move to Real Madrid has hit an unexpected snag after the player’s former agent, Max Gradel, filed an official complaint with FIFA alleging a contract breach, reports Diario AS.

Gradel’s agency, Maxidel Management, claims it held a valid representation agreement with the Ivory Coast international before he switched agents and moved to Roc Nation—the agency run by Jay-Z that handled negotiations with Real Madrid.

The Spanish club was caught off guard by the development. According to the report, Real Madrid wasn’t informed of any dispute between Diomande and his previous representatives. All transfer talks took place in good faith with Roc Nation and RB Leipzig.

Now FIFA has to step in and review the case. The football governing body has several options: issue a temporary permit allowing the transfer to proceed, delay the player’s registration, or in the worst case, block the deal entirely.

Although Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have already agreed on all financial aspects, the official announcement has been put on hold until FIFA reaches a final decision.

Both clubs hope for a swift resolution, with the situation expected to become clearer in the coming days.
