Mohamed Salah OUT FOR THE SEASON
Mohamed Salah suffers a severe hamstring tear, ending his season at Liverpool. Still aiming for Egypt's 2026 World Cup comeback. Details inside.

Mohamed Salah's time on the pitch this season has come to an abrupt end after suffering a hamstring injury during a match. The 33-year-old Egyptian winger, who has already announced his departure from Liverpool at the season’s close, limped off in the 60th minute, acknowledging the fans with applause.
Liverpool have yet to make any official statement regarding Salah’s injury, but Egypt’s football official Hassan has confirmed the severity of the issue.
He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment.

This injury means Salah won’t feature again for Liverpool this term. After nine successful years with the club, his final appearance won’t be defined by goals but by a farewell message to supporters after the last game against Brentford.
Liverpool still face three matches before the season closes:
- Manchester United away on May 3
- Chelsea at home on May 9
- Brentford at home on May 24
Salah has consistently been a thorn in Manchester United’s side over the years and has tallied 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season, maintaining his status as Liverpool’s third-highest all-time scorer.
Looking ahead, Hassan remains optimistic about Salah's return for Egypt’s World Cup campaign in 2026.
He will be fit for the 2026 World Cup, where Egypt will face Belgium, New Zealand and Iran in Group G.

Salah himself is focused on recovering in time for the North American tournament set to begin on June 11, hoping to avoid the kind of injury troubles he faced prior to the 2018 World Cup. Back then, he suffered a shoulder injury in the Champions League final against Real Madrid and, despite scoring twice in the tournament, Egypt could not progress beyond the group stage.
