Real Madrid is still pushing Vinicius Jr. to extend his contract beyond its 2027 expiration, with renewal remaining the preferred option for both the club and the Brazilian. Yet, doubts about his long-term future at the Bernabéu have reached an all-time high, according to several sources cited by ESPN.

Negotiations have been on ice since May, and those close to the 25-year-old forward believe talks won't resume until after the 2026 World Cup. That means Vinicius could enter the final year of his deal without a new agreement in place.

The uncertainty is compounded by a troubling dip in form. He hasn’t scored in 16 consecutive games, drawing boos from sections of the Santiago Bernabéu crowd and fueling tensions with head coach Xabi Alonso.

Sources close to the player point to negative media coverage of his contract situation as a trigger for fan reactions, insisting the problem would solve itself if Vinicius regains his form and the team’s results improve.

At worst, some insiders don’t rule out a sale this summer if an attractive offer that suits all parties arrives. Interest from Saudi Arabia has completely cooled off, and there have been no recent contacts from Pro League clubs despite earlier inquiries.

Vinicius reportedly does not want to leave Europe at this stage of his career and would only consider a move to another elite European club if he does leave Madrid.
