Lautaro Martinez celebrates a goal for Inter Milan during a Serie A match

Inter staged a remarkable turnaround at Giuseppe Meazza, overturning a shaky start to thrash Pisa SC 6-2. Down by two goals early on, the Nerazzurri fought back with grit and flair, ultimately stretching their lead over AC Milan to six points ahead of Milan’s pivotal clash with Roma.

Following three straight Champions League defeats under Cristian Chivu, which threatened their direct path to the Round of 16, Inter found a welcome boost in Serie A. But the game began badly for them, as Pisa immediately unsettled the hosts with high intensity.

The visitors shocked San Siro within ten minutes. Yann Sommer’s poor clearance gifted Stefano Moreo the ball, who fired from distance past the Swiss keeper to give Alberto Gilardino’s side the lead. Inter’s response faltered, and twenty-three minutes into the game, Pisa doubled their advantage. Moreo rose highest from a set piece to head home, stunning the home crowd with a 0-2 scoreline.

Chivu reacted decisively before halftime, substituting Luis Henrique for Federico Dimarco at the 34th minute—a move that changed the game's rhythm. Soon after, a foul on Tramoni inside the box awarded Inter a penalty, which Piotr Zieliński calmly converted. The Nerazzurri's momentum surged as Lautaro Martínez nodded in the equalizer just two minutes later. Before the break, Pio Esposito sealed the comeback, putting Inter 3-2 up.

In the second half, Inter kept pressing. Dimarco rattled the post early on, while Carlos Augusto missed a golden chance by shooting over from close range. Though Pisa fought to stay in the match, it was Dimarco who delivered the knockout. In the 81st minute, Marcus Thuram set him up, and Dimarco smashed a stunning left-foot volley to extend the lead to 4-2.

The goals kept coming late in the match, with Ange-Yoan Bonny and Henrikh Mkhitaryan adding two more to wrap up a comprehensive 6-2 win. Inter put their recent European woes behind them, regaining momentum in the league and tightening their grip on first place. Pisa’s promising start turned sour, leaving them second from bottom with just 14 points, lamenting a lead that quickly slipped away.
