Laporta's SHOCK Decisions Revealed
Joan Laporta exposes the bold, tough choices made to save Barcelona, from Nike deals to player retention, for the club’s survival.

Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, reflected on the most pivotal decisions taken during his tenure.
"We had to act with courage and speed to avoid collapse, with clear ideas," he said.
One of those bold moves involved renegotiating the sporting equipment contract with Nike, along with the Spotify deal. While these deals might have brought in less money compared to others, Laporta believed they were the best fit for the club's identity.
Another bold decision was the new contract for sportswear (with Nike), as well as with Spotify, which may have brought in less money than other offers, but we didn't believe they were the best for the club's identity.

He also pushed to keep players who have brought glory and hold great potential, resisting temptations from other clubs chasing bright futures.
We kept players who bring us glorious days, who have potential and for whom we saw would gain worldwide recognition, without giving in to the temptations of other clubs seeking footballers with a great future.

In the toughest moments, Laporta believes not making decisions would have been the real mistake. He admitted the hardest choices were personal — parting ways with coaches or not renewing player contracts — but insisted these were made for the greater good.
In a context of maximum difficulties, the mistake would have been not to make decisions. The decisions that hurt me the most involved people: to part company with a coach, not to renew a player's contract. But this is for the good of Barcelona. All decisions were made to protect Barça. I regret nothing. Some decisions were personally tough, but above all is Barcelona.
