Barcelona is ready to improve their offer for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez but won’t significantly raise the guaranteed transfer fee, reports Cadena SER journalist Santi Ovalle.
The Catalan club plans to push the total deal value to around €120 million, mainly through performance-related bonuses tied to the Argentine international’s achievements.
They’ve already made a first bid of €100 million. President Joan Laporta has made it clear the club won’t wait endlessly for an answer.
Despite Barcelona’s interest, Atletico remains steadfast in holding on to one of their most important players—even as media reports suggest Alvarez himself is willing to move.
Atletico’s CEO, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, recently rejected the possibility of selling the player outright.

From Camp Nou, the feeling is there’s still room to tweak the offer’s structure if Atletico reopens talks. However, Barcelona doesn’t intend to increase the fixed sum significantly.
Meanwhile, Atletico has told Alvarez he must join preseason training on August 10th following his participation with Argentina in the 2026 World Cup.
The Catalans continue to see the world champion as their top target this summer, but time is running short.
They’ve set an internal deadline of July 31 to wrap up the deal. If no agreement is reached by then, sporting director Deco will turn his attention to other options, with work on alternative targets already underway.
