Real Madrid chose not to form a guard of honour for Barcelona following their 2-3 defeat in the 2026 Spanish Supercup final.

Journalist Alfredo Martinez reported that Kylian Mbappe played a key role in that decision. The French striker was seen leading his teammates away from the pitch to ensure no guard of honour would be given to their big rivals.

Mbappe came on as a late substitute for Real Madrid but couldn't influence the final moments of the match.

Despite this, Florentino Perez was forced to congratulate Barcelona's team and shake hands with every player after their victory over the "whites" in the first El Clasico of 2026.
