PSG’s Win Rate Drops to 15-Year Low Amid Rising Penalty Dependence

Following an unforgettable 2024/25 season where PSG clinched Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Champions League, and made it to the Club World Cup final, expectations couldn’t have been higher for the Parisian side.

With Luis Enrique at the helm, many wondered how PSG would perform after finally reaching the heights that had long escaped them. So far, the results have been mixed at best. Despite a squad packed with stars, inconsistency and a spate of injuries have exposed vulnerabilities.

The trophies on paper still hint at success — victories in the European Super Cup against Tottenham, the Intercontinental Cup over Flamengo, and the French Super Cup against Marseille stand out. But each win was hard-earned, often only secured through dramatic late goals or tense penalty shootouts.

Behind the silver trophies, the stats tell a grimmer tale. BeSoccer Pro reports that PSG have managed just 17 wins in 28 matches this season, clocking in a 60.71% win rate. That’s a sharp drop from last year’s 73.85% (48 wins in 65 games), marking their worst five-year performance.

This figure even sits below Mauricio Pochettino’s 64% win rate in 2021/22 and is a far cry from Thomas Tuchel’s phenomenal 81.63% back in 2019/20.

If the current trend holds, the 2025/26 campaign could become PSG’s poorest under Qatari ownership—excluding their first season in 2011/12, when they won 59.18% of matches and finished second in Ligue 1.

With the team already knocked out of the domestic cup and trailing in Ligue 1, Luis Enrique faces a critical challenge to stabilize performances before things get worse.
