After guiding Crystal Palace to their maiden FA Cup victory last term, Austrian coach Glasner will be leaving the club once the current season concludes. Having secured the 2022 Europa League title with Eintracht Frankfurt, Glasner has attracted interest from top clubs such as Manchester United and Tottenham.

The manager revealed that the decision to part ways was made months ago during a discussion with Palace chairman Steve Parish amid the October international break.

A decision has already been taken, months ago,

Glasne

I had a meeting with (Palace chairman) Steve (Parish) in October, during the international break. We had a very long talk, and I told him I would not sign a new contract.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park in February 2024, Glasner has steadied the ship, lifting Palace from the danger zone of relegation to secure a 10th-place finish. The prior season ended with a 12th place, but also the club’s most celebrated achievement: a 1-0 triumph over Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

That victory earned Palace a spot in European competition for the very first time, though they were later relegated from the Europa League to the Conference League after a breach of multi-club ownership regulations.

Glasner has voiced his dissatisfaction with the limited squad depth throughout this campaign, which has seen the team’s early momentum fade. Recently, Palace have failed to win in nine consecutive matches, including a humiliating FA Cup defeat to sixth-tier side Macclesfield.

In addition, the manager confirmed that club captain Marc Guehi is close to securing a move to Manchester City.

Despite the difficulties, Glasner is determined to make the most of his remaining time, aiming for success in the Conference League before his exit.

I'm just looking for a new challenge,

Glasner

I haven't spoken to any other club, I told the players that and promised them today I will give my best to give the best season in Crystal Palace history, the best points tally in history.
