Man Utd dressing room backs Michael Carrick amid frustration with club leadership
Manchester United’s dressing room continues to back Michael Carrick, with senior players believing the club failed to strengthen his squad in the summer.

Manchester United’s players continue to back manager Michael Carrick despite the team’s poor results and growing uncertainty over his future at Old Trafford.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the dressing room remains united behind the Englishman. Some players believe the club’s leadership failed to give him the support he needed in the summer transfer window.
Lisandro Martínez’s recent criticism of the club’s directors after the defeat by Atlético Madrid was welcomed by many of his team-mates.
Not every player agreed with everything the Argentine said, but his attempt to deflect criticism from Carrick and turn attention towards the leadership won approval in the dressing room.
United showed signs of improvement against Atlético in the Champions League but still lost. They have now won just two of their last nine matches, adding to the pressure on Carrick.
The newspaper reports that several senior players share Martínez’s view that Carrick wasn’t given enough reinforcements over the summer. Some of the manager’s closest colleagues also hold that opinion.
That could put further pressure on chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox if Carrick’s future is discussed. For now, however, there’s no indication United are preparing to change their manager.
