Manchester City midfielder and Spanish international Rodri has undergone successful back surgery, The Athletic reported.
The procedure was needed to address a discomfort Rodri had been experiencing for some time. He is expected to have only a short rehabilitation period and should be ready in time for the FA Community Shield match against Arsenal on August 16.
Rodri appeared in 33 games for City during the 2025/2026 season, scoring two goals. He also won the 2026 World Cup with Spain and was named the tournament's best player.
Earlier reports indicated that Rodri had agreed to terms on a move to Real Madrid.
