Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid match preview
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is ready to come back in tonight's game. The midfielder got injured three weeks ago when the clubs met for the first leg of the Champions League and now he is ready to return back to the squad.
Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson will play tonight after he missed the game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
However, Alisson Becker will miss this game and Monday's Merseyside derby due to a hip injury.
For the visiting team Kieran Trippier is expected to play tonight after missing the first leg. It is not clear yet as he was seen limping in his return back to action in the weekend draw against Sevilla
Thomas Lemar and Alvaro Morata Joao Felix are in doubts for selection.
Liverpool have never lost against Atletico at Anfield. In their previous meetings, the first in the Champions League back in 2008-09 it was a 1-1 draw, and when they met again in the Europa League semi-final in 2009-10 they won with 2-1.
The Reds eliminated Chelsea back in 2006-07 and made the impossible when they eliminated Barcelona last season.
If Liverpool get eliminated by Atletico Madrid tonight it will be the first time since a run of four seasons between 2004-05 and 2007-08 when the Champions League champions fail to go beyond the last 16 in two consecutive seasons. Last year Real Madrid were eliminated by Ajax.
