Neymar still a top priority for Barcelona

Neymar still remain a top priority for the Spanish giants Barcelona. Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu and the club are keen to resume negotiations with the Brazilian.

Barcelona seriously need to reinforce their squad in most of the areas, especially in the attacking position as one of their main players will be out for the rest of the season and when he come back it is not sure how well he will play.

Josep Bartomeu mandate is coming to an end in 2021 and Barcelona president is desperate to finish it with a title and we think that he sees Neymar as a great opportunity that to happen.

The main issue with the signing of Neymar remains the money. ESPN has reported that the deal could cost around 150 million euros, while other reports say that it could go over 180 million euros.

If they are ready to give that amount of money for the Brazilian player it is not secret that he will demand a substantial wage. We think that he will be looking to earn around 70 million euros which means that Barca will have to significantly increase their wage budget.

Barcelona already have a huge wage budget with stars like Messi, Suarez and Griezmann. If they sign Neymar this means that some of the other potential new signings will fell off.

Barcelona definitely need a new replacement for Luis Suarez as the 33-year old Uruguayan is seriously injured. Lautaro Martinez is one of the top targets as a new striker, but his price is set to be very high, 110 million euros, it is unlikely that he will come to Camp Nou is Neymar did too.

The other reasonable and less expensive option is the RB Leipzig star Timo Werner. The young German is having hell of a season in Germany and his price is around 60 million euros which makes him much more affordable.

The other main problem to Barcelona is not just the strikers, they also need a new centre-back. There must be a vital reinforcement in that area as Samuel Umtiti is having a poor season so far and one of their top defenders Gerard Pique is now entering the final stages of his football career as he is 33 years old.

The Catalans need to improve their full-back and the midfield area too. Although that the new signings in the midfield area depend on the future of Carlos Alena.
