Chelsea begged David Luiz to return after leaving for Arsenal

David Luiz revealed that Chelsea has begged him to return to Stamford Bridge after he left to join their rivals Arsenal. He opened up about the pain he felt that moment.

The Brazilian defender left Stamford Bridge in the last summer transfer window and he joined the Gunners. The deal was complete and his price was £8 million.

Luiz has won almost everything with Chelsea - the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup. The 32-year-old Brazilian defender says staff at Stamford Bridge begged him to stay.

Buy David Luiz was determined to start a new chapter of his professional career as a football player and the decision to join the North London club was the best he could possibly make.

"I can be honest with you - the first three days of the first week was not easy to come to terms and to understand my emotions, because everybody knows my history with Chelsea,” - David Luiz said in his interview with OTRO.

"The connection I had with everyone in the club was so massive and big and I was feeling like I already missed everyone in the club.

"Every text I received people were saying, "Come back, come back, come back. We are here for you.

''Let me use the example of a gentleman there who was 75-year-old, he would have breakfast with me every time he had the opportunity and he texted me "I am still waiting for you here to have a breakfast again.

"So this kind of thing was the most difficult for me. But then after that, in the professional way, I was saying: “It is a new moment for you. It is another big thing for you to do. Maybe if you stay in the comfort zone it is not going to be the best thing for you?” – added Luiz.

"For me it was a top decision as I wanted to play for this big club and make it shine again."
