PSG's Kvaratskhelia and Doue DOMINATE Liverpool in Shocking 2-0 WIN! 👀
PSG secures a crucial 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League with goals from Doue and Kvaratskhelia, despite missed chances.

PSG controlled the match from the outset, with Doue opening the scoring in the 11th minute thanks to a fortunate deflection off Ryan Gravenberch that looped over goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The visitors doubled their lead in the 65th minute when Kvaratskhelia expertly beat Gravenberch and rounded Mamardashvili to finish calmly.
Although the reigning European champions had a second-half penalty initially awarded for a foul on Warren Zaire-Emery, the decision was overturned after a VAR review, leaving the final score at 2-0. The PSG duo did more than enough to earn the win against a Liverpool side that unusually lined up with three centre-backs under Arne Slot and appeared overwhelmed throughout.
I think we had chances to score more. There were many moments where we should score but it is OK.
— Kvaratskhelia
I think 2-0 is good but we have to stay focused because we have to play at Anfield. We know that the atmosphere will be amazing so we are already starting to prepare that game.
— Kvaratskhelia
Despite their high pressing and defensive reshuffle with Joe Gomez slotting in alongside Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool failed to impose themselves and were left chasing the ball for much of the night. Their only notable chance in the first half came from an offside Jeremie Frimpong, while PSG dominated possession with 70 percent control.
Liverpool’s form remains troubling, now registering only one victory in their last six matches across all competitions and suffering their 16th defeat this season. Their task becomes even tougher as they prepare to face PSG again at Anfield next Tuesday. The French side holds the advantage after winning 1-0 at Merseyside in last season’s Champions League last-16 second leg before advancing on penalties en route to lifting the trophy.
Changes were notable for both teams. PSG’s Mamardashvili started in goal in Alisson Becker’s absence for Liverpool, while Mohamed Salah didn't start for Liverpool, joining Alexander Isak on the bench. Isak later came on during a late quadruple substitution.
PSG created the opening goal through Doue, who collected the ball following an Ousmane Dembele run, advanced into the box, and his shot deflected off Gravenberch, confusing Mamardashvili. Later in the match, a brilliant pass from Joao Neves found Kvaratskhelia, who used his strength and skill to evade the defender and goalkeeper before scoring.
Liverpool faced additional luck when a penalty initially awarded for a foul by Konate on Zaire-Emery was rescinded after VAR intervention — a rare break for the visitors against a dominant PSG side. Late moments saw Dembele strike the post, but the result was never seriously in doubt, extending PSG’s winning streak against Premier League teams to nine since last year.
