Reyes was driving at 116 mph causing the fatal crash

A police report stated that the former Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes was speeding at 116 mph when his "back-left tyre exploded", leading to his fatal end.

Former Arsenal striker, lost his life last year, while driving his Mercedes S550 with two cousins. The fatal accident took his life and the life of his other passenger, leaving other cousin with 60 per cent burns from the crash.

According to Spanish radio network Cadena SER, the player was driving at 187 kph (116 mph), when his back-left tyre exploded and he lost control of the wheel.

It was reported later that the wheel that caused the accident, was repaired by his cousin just few days earlier.

The death of Reyes shocked the football fans, but at the time, no further information was given on the accident.

Jose Antonio Reyes was the first Spanish player who won the Premier League when he played with Arsenal.

He was part of the 'Invincible', also a LaLiga winner with Real Madrid and won the Europa League three times with Sevilla.

Reyes left a wife and two children, a boy and a girl.

After the funeral, his father gave a heartbreaking interview about the death of his son.

“When we are alone all we do is cry. We do not even speak because if we say something to each other, it is about something that makes us cry.

“We cannot say things to each other because if we say or do or see something we think about how he used to say and do things.”
