David Luiz’s dreadful error in Arsenal’s friendly defeat against Brentford went viral on social media ahead of the Premier League’s return on June 17.
The Gunners have played friendly games against Charlton and the Bees in order to get fit before the big game against Manchester City this Wednesday.
In the first game against Charlton, Arsenal totally trashed them 6-0 as Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick, but the game against Brentford left a sore taste in their mouth.
David Luiz huge mistake took the headlines as that cost Arsenal the defeat.
Arsenal were leading 1-0 before half-time, but after the break David Luiz was put under pressure by two Brentford players and tried an audacious flick over one of their heads.
Luiz has given away the ball which allowed Tariqe Fosu to smash home the equalising goal.
However, Alexandre Lacazette scored a goal to put the Gunners in front again, but late goals from Halil Dervisoglu and Shandon Baptiste sealed the victory for Brentford who are chasing the promotion.
David Luiz is running out of contract at the end of the current campaign and an extension is yet to be discussed.
The 33-year-old Brazilian joined Arsenal last season from their rivals Chelsea and recently there were many speculations that he might leave the Gunners on a free transfer this summer.
However, his agent, Kia Joorabchian said that those speculations are just ‘fake news’ and Luiz could sign a new deal.
