Van Dijk revealed Klopp's message for the players

Virgil van Dijk has revealed that Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool boss, has challenged the whole squad to set the tone for another triumphant title campaign next season.

The Reds need just six points from their remaining nine matches of 2019/20 season to win their first Premier League title in 30 years.

Virgil van Dijk has become a major part of Liverpool's squad ever since he arrived from Southampton in 2018 and he completely transformed the backline.

However, the 28-year-old defender believes that Liverpool could get better and better with the years and they have even bigger thirst for trophies now.

“With two wins, we will be champions; but it doesn’t stop there,” Van Dijk told the Mail on Sunday.

“We want to keep going, we want to take it into next season as well because that will start pretty quickly after the last game of this season.

“The manager spoke to us as well and said that what we do in these last nine games will set the tone for next season as well.

“Winning the league would be a big experience that could take us to the next level.”

Liverpool are gearing up for their first game after three months as they face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Van Dijk and the whole squad have their eyes now on the title, but the defender believes that Liverpool are going to win multiple Premier League crowns as their first is already so close.

“If we win the title this season, we will try to retain it,” added Van Dijk.

“That’s what we are aiming for but everyone knows how difficult it is to retain the title, especially in England and we are not there this season yet.

“We tried to retain our Champions League title and it wasn’t possible. It’s very difficult."
