Manchester City could face a ban from European competitions lasting up to 10 years and a deduction of 60 points, according to reports, as the club’s financial-rule case continues.

Journalist César Augusto Londoño claimed on X that UEFA was close to announcing a punishment that could prevent City from competing in any European club competition for between seven and 10 years.

There has been no official confirmation from UEFA of any such decision.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil said in early October that he had received information suggesting City could have 60 points deducted from their total.

I hear it’s about a 60-point deduction” - Alan Brazil

Brazil added that he thought such a penalty was unlikely to be imposed this season.

The legal battle between City and the Premier League has been under way since February 2023. In September 2026, a decision was announced on allegations of financial breaches between 2009 and 2018.

The 2023 English champions have appealed the decision and continue to deny committing any breaches.

Until the appeal process is complete, any potential sanctions remain speculative. City won the Champions League in 2023, but reports suggest their future participation in European competitions could be under serious threat.
