Serie A are working on ways to reduce the economic and financial losses to the league because of the coronavirus pandemic.
One of the options that is being considered by Serie A is to cut off wages of the players.
Gabriele Gravina, the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), thinks that this would be a good idea considering the fact that the clubs are generating a lot of losses.
"Reducing wages can't be a taboo," said in recent statement Gravina.
Damiano Tommasi, the president of the Italian Footballers' Association (AIC), seems to be on the same page. "We're all interested in preserving the economic balance and therefore we have to study all elements of this moment," said Tommasi recently.
"The lack of investment, the suspension of the competitions, the cancellation of events, the lack of help from the government and federations - all these elements will tell us what the role of the players will be."
So what exactly will happen if they actually decide to reduce the wages of the players?
Let's not forget what happen with Cristiano Ronaldo when his salary was in danger. The football star was charged with almost €19 million for tax fraud back in 2017.
Last time Cristiano Ronaldo left Spain because of money issues, so is it possible to leave Serie A if they reduce his wage?
