Christian Eriksen decided to move to Inter Milan in the January transfer window. The negotiations that brought the Dane to Inter were very delicate and extremely complex, but eventually Eriksen flew to Italy and completed the deal in the middle of this campaign.
Eriksen's contract was set to expire in the summer, but the Nerazzurri agreed to pay Tottenham €20m for the Denmark international.
It is not a secret that Inter definitely needed a midfielder as Eriksen and most certainly they made the right choice to bring him in Italy.
The contract of the Dane was set to expire in the summer of 2020 and he did not want to renew it and it was clear for a long time. That means that he was going to be a free agent and a lot of big clubs would have joined in the competition to sign him.
In fact, Eriksen attracted the attention of several big clubs back in the summer, but they wanted to sign him for free.
Clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid most definitely need a new midfielder on their side and that means that they were the first to offer him a deal. In fact Eriksen was linked with a move to Santiago Bernabéu last summer.
It is a fact that both Barcelona and Real Madrid seriously need a reinforced in the middle of the pitch.
Barcelona seriously need to find a new midfielders as Sergio Busquets, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic are now 32-year-old.
Real Madrid have to find a replacement for Luka Modric as the midfielder is already 34-year-old and most definitely he won't play for more than one or two years.
So we can say for sure that the Catalans and Los Blancos would have offered Eriksen a deal if he just have waited.
However, Inter didn't want to risk to lose him and didn't want to miss out on the opportunity of having a world class player like Eriksen and they offered him a great deal.
Christian Eriksen made only four appearances in Serie A and did not score a goal in any of them nor assisted a goal. We understand that it is hard in the beginning, especially since it's a new league for the player, but we are sure that 2020/21 season will be his.
