Inter Milan has officially started negotiations with Tottenham for a potential move to sign Spurs captain Cristian Romero, according to reports from Italy on Sunday.
The defender, who helped Argentina reach a second consecutive World Cup final earlier this month, could leave Tottenham this summer after an eventful five-year spell at the club.
Since joining Spurs in 2021, the central defender has made 156 appearances. He led the club to the Europa League title in the 2024-2025 season but faced four separate suspensions during a challenging final campaign.
Tottenham, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, have already strengthened their defense this summer by signing Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, aiming to improve after a disappointing season in the Premier League.
The Spurs board is expected to allow Romero to enter talks with representatives from the Italian champions Inter.
