A shocking incident overshadowed Inter’s 2-0 victory over Cremonese when a fan of the Nerazzurri threw a firecracker towards the visitors’ goalkeeper Emil Audero. The disturbing event occurred early in the second half and had serious consequences both for the injured fan and the club.

At the 48th minute, an explosive device detonated near Audero, a former Inter player from the 2023/24 season. The keeper collapsed visibly stunned and temporarily affected in his hearing but was able to continue after medical treatment.

Shortly after, Italian media reported that the culprit suffered severe injuries while trying to ignite another firecracker. It exploded in his hand, leading to the loss of two or three fingers. Before being taken to hospital, the man was reportedly attacked by other fans in the same stand. Authorities will arrest him once he recovers.

The players’ reaction was immediate. Federico Dimarco, Lautaro Martinez, and Alessandro Bastoni rushed to check on Audero and condemned the crowd's behavior through their gestures. Head coach Cristian Civu also spoke out sharply towards the supporters.

Ironically, the same fans had just displayed a banner supporting the team and coach, calling for unity in tough times. After the incident, Inter president Beppe Marotta publicly condemned the fan’s actions, stressing that such behavior has nothing to do with sports values and that the responsible party will face full consequences.

Inter now faces potential sanctions, including a fine of up to €50,000 and possible partial closure of the "Curva" stand at San Siro. There will be no forfeit loss since the match was not stopped.

After the final whistle, Inter players chose not to salute the fans. Alessandro Bastoni explained the decision was driven by concern for Emil Audero’s health and a clear message that violence has no place in football.
