Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s young winger, is open to a surprising transfer to Manchester United, according to Samuel Luckhurst.

The 23-year-old, who moved from Manchester City to Chelsea in September 2023, is struggling to settle in at Stamford Bridge. Despite signing an improved contract with Chelsea until 2033 last season, Palmer has only managed 11 starts this campaign, largely due to a groin injury that also saw him miss Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on January 25.

While Palmer is open to returning to his boyhood club, he rules out the chance of rejoining Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

The winger maintains a strong connection to his hometown of Withington, often visiting family and friends there.

A key figure who could influence any potential transfer is Manchester United’s sporting director Jason Wilcox. Wilcox oversaw Palmer’s development while heading Manchester City’s academy and might play a crucial role if a move to United is on the cards.
