Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe found the net twice in their away match against Benfica during the eighth round of the Champions League group stage.

The 27-year-old Frenchman opened the scoring in the 30th minute after receiving an assist from Raul Asensio. He then added a second goal in the 58th minute to further extend Madrid’s lead.

With these strikes, Mbappe became the first player in Champions League history to score 13 goals in the group phase, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s previous record.

Ronaldo had 11 goals in the group stage, having played one match fewer than Mbappe.
