Bayern Munich duo Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich have donated one million euros to help with the fight against the coronavirus. They created a platform called 'We Kick Corona' and the donated money will go straight to this platform and this will allow people to donate further money for the cause.
The idea of the platform is to create a fund which will contribute to the social organisations, charities and health entities that are currently struggling with the fighting against COVID-19.
There is a website www.wekickcorona.com, on which the different organisations can ask for immediate help from the fund created by the Germans.
This initiative starts after a donation of 2.5 million euros which was made by all the members of the German national football team.
"We can only beat the coronavirus as a team," Goretzka said in a recent press release.
“We are well aware of the fact that our commitment can only make a small contribution.
“With #WeKickCorona, we want to help all those over Germany who help others.”
His teammate not only in Bayern, but in the German national team added: "Everyone can help, on a small as well as a large scale.
"We will only make it out of this crisis if we as a society stand together, show reason and responsibility and are there for each other.”
