Messi Ignites Barcelona Drama! Will He Return?
Lionel Messi skips Barcelona presidential election to focus on Inter Miami preseason and his final World Cup. Is this the end of an era?

SPORT reports that Lionel Messi will not take part in the upcoming FC Barcelona presidential elections. So far, not a single candidate has reached out to the Argentine star.
Opposition candidates often mention Messi and his importance to the club. Victor Font, for example, said he would call Messi first if elected. But the forward is fully concentrated on Inter Miami's preseason trip in South America and preparing for what is expected to be his final World Cup.
Messi's previous experience with Barcelona politics was far from positive, leading him to stay clear of the election drama. Yet, his name keeps appearing in election discussions.
The MLS season kicks off on February 22, and Messi is prioritizing defending the title with Inter Miami.
Barcelona’s presidential vote is set for March 15. Current president Joan Laporta must resign by February 21 if he wants to run again.
