Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached a verbal understanding over the transfer of Marc Cucurella, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Cucurella is expected to remain at Chelsea until after the World Cup before making the switch to the Spanish giants ahead of the next campaign.

The left-back began his career in Barcelona’s youth system but is now poised to join their fiercest rivals in La Liga. Prior to his Premier League ventures, Cucurella built experience in Spain’s top flight through spells with Eibar and Getafe.

His impressive form earned him a move to Brighton & Hove Albion, where he continued to develop before Chelsea secured his signature.

In the 2025–26 season, Cucurella featured in 50 matches for Chelsea across all competitions, including 34 Premier League appearances, during which he contributed one goal and four assists.
