It was confirmed that the league standings will remain the way it is, meaning that Stade Rennes and Marseille qualified to the Champions League, while Lille, Nice and Reims will play in the Europa League.

The LFP president, Didier Quillot stated that the next season, 2020/21 will start in the end of August.

“Our objective is to start the season 20/21 in August – at the latest August 22/23. The date will be decided in consultation with the broadcasters.

“If authorised to play behind closed doors, there is a possibility of playing the relevant Cup finals in August too.”

Earlier it got clear that Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon will continue to play in the Champions League, as UEFA are determined to finish the European tournament.

From UEFA explained that they are the only ones that can make a decision whether the teams remain playing in the Champions League or not and it does not matter that the French league has been canceled.
