Endrick’s spell at Real Madrid was brief and frustrating. Limited to just 99 minutes of action and sidelined by injuries, he struggled to find a foothold amid stiff competition. Even falling behind Gonzalo in the hierarchy, the young Brazilian striker knew he needed more regular minutes. His solution was a January switch to Olympique Lyon, where he has quickly settled in and become a consistent goal threat.

At Lyon, Endrick has turned heads across French football. His latest strike on Wednesday marked his fifth goal in as many matches for the club, continuing an impressive run since his arrival.

This stands in stark contrast to his dry spell at Madrid and the underwhelming scoring form of his former teammates this year. Vinicius has yet to regain his goal-scoring rhythm, Mastantuono has struggled to make an impact, Rodrygo remains inconsistent, and Brahim's chances have been limited after his AFCON return. The injury to Bellingham has further thinned midfield options. Madrid might be regretting losing a key goal scorer in Endrick.

His impact at Lyon has been undeniable. Starting off with a goal on his debut against Lille in a tight 2-1 victory, he showed raw emotion in celebration. He then provided an assist in a close win over Brest before netting a hat-trick in a 5-2 league thrashing of Metz. The only match where he didn’t find the net was a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lille in the domestic cup, but he bounced back with a decisive goal in a 2-0 win over Stade Lavallois, securing Lyon’s place in the quarter-finals with a powerful strike from outside the box.

Overall, Endrick has racked up five goals in France across league and cup competitions since joining Lyon. Only two players have outscored him in this period in France's top two competitions:

  • Mason Greenwood (Olympique Marseille) – 6 goals
  • Amine Gouiri (Olympique Marseille) – 6 goals

Endrick now sits level with these players on five.

Looking back at Real Madrid’s numbers since his exit paints a revealing picture. Asensio and Bellingham have each netted just once, Mastantuono and Gonzalo have scored twice apiece, and Vinicius leads with three goals. None have matched Endrick’s tally, and he’s played fewer games since making the move. Only Kylian Mbappe, with eight goals from six outings, has been more prolific.

Tactically, Endrick has shown versatility at Lyon. He’s started some games on the right wing, a position he seldom occupied under Ancelotti and barely under Xabi Alonso. From there, he’s been a constant menace, drifting inside to influence play and threaten the box. Lyon’s freedom to let him roam has clearly paid dividends.
