Lyon ahead against Juventus

The hosts were the much better side in this first-leg of the Champions League last-16 tie at Groupama Stadium.

They dominated and controlled the match throughout the game

With Tousart opener in the 31st minute Lyon, put Juventus behind.

Even though, Lyon was playing the better football they missed some chances to extend the lead.

On the other hand, Juve didn't play at their best.

We expect the Sarri's side to be great, especially when they have a world class player like Ronaldo, but the Portuguese wasn't playing his best football last night.

The guests had some great chances to open the scoreline. Ronaldo almost found Cuadrado at the far post inside four minutes of the game.

However, Juve had problems with one of the defenders as De Ligt was forced off by a cut on his head.

That was the time when the hosts took advantage of the unsure visitors and opened the scoreline. The shot by Tousart wasn't so tidy, but it was enough to found the net past Wojciech Szczesny.

In the second period the hosts were more organised in defense and Juventus hardly had any chances to get past them.

In the 68th minute Juve had a chance to equalize but Dybala arrived too late to sweep Betancur's cross goalwards.

As expected Higuain came in as substitute. After a great pass from Dybala he wasted the opportunity to equalize after a terrible shot from eight yards.

In the five minutes of added time, the visitors was claiming that there is penalty in their favor, after Dybala went to ground with Guimaraes grabbing a handful of his shirt.

Paulo Dybala was unlucky not to win the late penalty, but seemingly there was one as he was fouled by Bruno Guimaraes. The referee Jesus Manzano didn't give Juve the penalty and with that, Juventus' hopes of a first-leg comeback were over.
