Why France is the favourite to win the World cup?

Qatar World Cup 2022 is just around the corner with 32 teams eager to lift one of the most prestigious trophies in the world. This year we’ll witness one of the greatest players of all time play their last World Cup and they are determined to win it - some for the first time in their careers, some once again.

With the start of the FIFA World Cup on November 20, fans are wondering who will lift the trophy on December 18. The bookies are already making their betting odds on World Cup 2022 and Brazil, Argentina and France are among the favourites. The three teams have one of the best players in the world, but France has some advantages. Let's learn why France is the favourite to win the World Cup.

Dominance in attack

It’s not a surprise for anyone when we say that France has one of the best-attacking players in the world. Didier Deschamps’ side has the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema, who are in terrific form just weeks before the start of the competition.

Karim Benzema won his first Ballon d’Or this year after one of the best displays football fans have ever seen. The Frenchman helped Real Madrid win their 14th Champions League title. Benzema was called up by the France national team for Euro 2020 after several years without playing on an international level. He was punished after getting caught blackmailing one of his former France teammates, Mathieu Valbuena. After redeeming himself Benzema showed why he is such a key part of France’s attack.

Kylian Mbappe is arguably one of the best young players in the world. The PSG star is in amazing form so far this season netting 11 goals. Mbappe’s star started shining at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He was one of the key players to help France win their first World Cup in years. Ever since then Mbappe has developed into the best young player to watch.

When speaking of a great attacking player, we cannot miss mentioning Antoine Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid player is starting to regain his great form with his brilliant displays for Atleti. Griezmann had his struggles in recent years after his transfer to Barcelona, but when it comes to international football he is one of the best on the pitch.

Add Ousmane Dembele to the mix and now you see why France is one of the most scary-looking sides and favourites to win the Qatar World Cup 2022.

A point to prove

France is without a doubt one of the most talented teams in the tournament. They are the current World Cup holders, following their triumph in 2018 in Russia. The stakes are pretty high for them as they have to repeat their terrific performances from four years ago.

Recently the team showed pretty poor form in the international matches during 2022, but they must concentrate and make a strong push in Qatar. One of the latest blasts for the team was the news that Paul Pogba might miss the World Cup due to injury. Pogba is one of the best midfielders in the world and his absence will be felt.

Some great young talents are eager to prove themselves on an international level. Eduardo Camavinga has already shown great potential playing for Real Madrid and now it’s his chance to shine for the national team.

William Saliba is also expected to start for Didier Deschamps’ side. The young defender has shown some great talent in his displays for Arsenal and now it’s his time to prove his point in the national team.

As it stands the French side heading into the world cup is a force to be reckoned with and, as such, they find themselves as one of the favourites to win.
