Kante Jorginho Chelsea

Chelsea will have to sell two key players for Havertz

N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are the two key players that might be sold by Chelsea if they complete the signing of the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

Chelsea are close on confirming the signing of Timo Werner as they paid his release clause, but Lampard is looking to bolster his squad with another forward and he has his sight on Kai Havertz.

The playmaker has risen through the ranks at Leverkusen to become one of the most wanted players as he scored 33 goals in all 112 league appearances for the club at the age of 20.

Havertz has two more years of his current deal with Leverkusen, but it is believed that Chelsea have offered £70 million to sign him from the German club.

However, according to some reports, Frank Lampard will have to part ways with two of his players if Chelsea sign the German international, and Kante and Jorginho are the both players at risk.

Kante, who is the World Cup winner, is among the best midfielders in the world, despite he struggled with injury prior to football’s suspension.

Jorginho had a difficult first season with the Blues when he joined them for £50m in 2018, but this season he has shown a great improvement.

Chelsea also signed Ajax star Hakim Ziyech and Lampard claims that he has been assured he will be provided with the transfer funds to continue spending.

With Werner deal set to be announced soon, Havertz became Chelsea's top priority, but Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller has insisted the club will not let go of their young star without a fight.

“We haven’t given up hope that he’ll stay with us," Voller told ARD.

“We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities.

“He did an outstanding job in the second half of the season.”
