Atalanta

Magical night for Atalanta

Atalanta marked their first ever Champions League knockout stage game by all but booking their passage to the quarter-final.

It was a display to do San Siro proud as Hans Hateboer scored twice, Josip Iličić added another and Remo Freuler scored a screamer in their 4-1 success.

In the first half, the home side played far better than their rivals and that led to the first scored goal - Hetbourg opened the score line in the 16th minute and Illicic found the net for the second goal in the 42nd.

The second half was much more dynamic and full with situations than the first. Atalanta scored two more goals and led by 4: 0 followed by the goals of Freiler and again by Hetebur.

Two minutes later, Valencia reduced the score line. Denis Cherishev scored as he entered as a substitute but by the end of the match Valencia did not get to score for the second time.

The second game will be on 10 March. Valencia need to score 3 goals if they want to go further in the Champions League. But will the manage to do it?
