The Premier League announced that there are six positive tests for coronavirus from three different clubs in the first phase of mass testing.
Around 748 players and staff have been tested for the virus on Sunday May 17 and Monday May 18 as a preparation for the returning of the season.
There are only six positive tests among all people. Now anyone that got positive results for COVID-19 must go under self-isolation for at least seven days and they are not allowed to attend in the training ground.
Premier League does not reveal the clubs and the persons who contracted the virus for data protection reasons.
Now everyone must take part in a second phase of testing later this week.
"The Premier League can today confirm that on Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18, 748 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19,” said the Premier League statement.
"Of these, six have tested positive from three clubs. Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.
"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public in this way after each round of testing."
On Monday, the Premier League clubs have agreed to train in small groups, while maintaining social distancing.
The officials are still optimistic that the Premier League could restart around June 12 at earliest, but nothing is sure at the moment.
It is reported that on Monday, at the 'Project Restart' meeting, the 20 clubs have discussed the idea of curtailing the season and continued talks over the issue of neutral venues.
