The first professional footballer diagnosed with coronavirus

A player from the third division is the first professional football player to be diagnosed with the coronavirus.

The Italian newspaper La Nazione, has reported that a 22-year-old footballer has been diagnosed with the coronavirus, which was officially named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization. The player's name has not been revealed but it is known that he plays for US Pianese ASD.

The status of the player is ‘good’ despite his recent test coming back as positive. The 22-year old has reported a fever before a recent fixture and made himself unavailable for selection, before putting himself in voluntary quarantine.

For now there are no other reports on footballers diagnosed with coronavirus.

In the last night fixture Real Madrid against Man City there were fans who wore masks.

Also tonight Inter will face Ludogorets for the second leg of the Europa League. The Bulgarian team was wearing masks as they landed to the airport.

For now Italy has confirmed 447 cases of COVID-19 and the virus caused the death of 14 people. Worldwide there are 82,455 cases and 2811 deaths.
