Andre Onana revealed that his time at Ajax has come and he is ready to say goodbye to the club this summer.
After the Eredivisie has been canceled and Ajax exit from the UEFA Europa League it is clear why Onana wants to leave the club.
He has been with the club for five seasons and has won the Eredivisie title as well as enjoying KNVB Cup and a success in the Champions League in the 2008/19 season.
But now the 24-year-old Cameroon goalkeeper thinks it is time to take a new challenge in his career.
"Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy with Ajax and I am very grateful to the club,” told Onana to Algemeen Dagblad.
"It was five great years here, but now my time has come to take a step.
"I don’t yet know what will happen, but my ambitions and agreements are clear."
Chelsea is one of the candidates for the Cameroonian as it is clear that Frank Lampard is looking for a new goalkeeper.
Chelsea's manager is not pleased with Kepa Arrizabalaga performances this season and he is keeping him on the sidelines. Kepa price was £71m, but Lampard relies more on Willy Caballero rather on him.
Chelsea have bought already a new addition for the midfield area from Ajax. The Blues paid £37 million for Hakim Ziyech and he is expected to debut for the club in the next season.
Onana is expected to cost around £25m, but the coronavirus pandemic might see his value drop.
Another team that might be interested in the 24-year-old goalkeeper is Barcelona.
The Cameroonian has already played for the Catalans as they have brought him when he was 14-year-old.
Barcelona might be interested in bringing Onana to Camp Nou, but their main priority remains Marc-Andre ter Stegen. If Onana joins Barcelona this summer, he might not get the play time he expects.
