English agent Gary Williams has been reported to offer the Premier League the chance to play the remaining matches of the season in Perth, Australia.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic worldwide, the Premier League and all other leagues have been suspended and now they are looking for a way to resume their campaigns.
Williams, who actually lives in Australia, is currently in contact with the Australian government and Ministry for Sport.
He has already received a green light from the local Perth senator and that is why he offered the Premier League that opportunity.
If the Premier League agrees to play the remaining season in Australia, the 20 clubs will fly to Perth. Most certainly they will be isolated in their hotels and the fixtures will be played behind closed doors.
Williams told SunSport: “I have had discussions with contacts at Premier League clubs and they like the idea.
“I have also spoken with government officials and they are enthusiastic. We are speaking again this week.
“Everybody is safe here. The government has lifted many restrictions.
An unnamed club official seems to like the idea and said: “We go on world tours in pre-season. This is no different. And the climate in Australia is ideal just now.”
Last year, 2019, Manchester United played their pre-season matches in Perth, and a year before that Chelsea did that too.
The idea of finishing the season in Australia seems to be a good one, as at least the clubs will be able to play the rest of their games.
