Raheem Sterling is a professional football player, who is currently playing for Manchester City and the England national team.

He is considered as one of the best wingers in the world, due to his unbelievable pace, his dribbling abilities and his calmness in the penalty box.

Undoubtedly, Sterling is one of the key players for both Manchester City and the national team – but what do we know about his early career, the clubs he played for before joining the Citizens and his net worth?

Raheem Sterling early career

Raheem Sterling began his career as a football player at Queens Park Rangers. Queens Park Rangers, signed him when he was only 10-year-old, back in 2003.

The young player was subsequently scouted by the Academies of Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Liverpool, and Manchester City, but his mother encouraged him not to go to the locality in order to escape the hostile gang culture in London.

After seven years Sterling impressed Liverpool and the Merseyside team signed him in 2010.

In 2010, Sterling joined Liverpool for an initial fee of £450,000, with the possibility of rising up to £2 million depending on how many appearances he made for the first team.

At the beginning he played for Liverpool's Youth Team, and he made his debut in a match against Everton. The Englishman scored his first goal for the Reds in a 2–2 draw against Hibernian.

In 2012, Raheem Sterling make his debut for the first-team as a substitute in a league match against Wigan Athletic. He was only 17-year-old at the time and became the third youngest player to play for the club.

After five years with the Merseyside team Sterling left them and joined Manchester City.

Тhe contract scandal

Raheem Sterling did not leave Liverpool in the best possible way. He left the Reds when they needed him the most, as just year earlier Luis Suarez left them and Liverpool had no other option to replace him.

In 2015, Sterling was rumored to be offered a new contract worth £100,000 a week, but in an interview for BBC the Englishman confirmed that he rejected the deal.

However, he said that the reason is not the money, but it was already clear that he had intentions to leave the club.

In May 2015, Sterling's agent Aidy Ward gave an interview to the London Evening Standard saying: "I don't care about the PR of the club and the club situation... He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week."

That pissed off not only the club's management, but the fans were furious too, as the Reds were the main reason for Sterling's success.

However, after turning down couple of times Manchester City's offer to buy the player, Liverpool sell him for an initial £44 million with a further potential £5 million in add-ons to the Citizens.

He made his debut for the Citizens in a 0–3 win against West Bromwich Albion.

In 2016/17 season, Sterling became a regular part of the Pep Guardiola's team and he was named Premier League Player of the Month for August 2016.

In the 2018–19 season, he was named to the PFA Premier League Team of the Year and won the PFA Young Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year.

Since joining the Sky Blues, Sterling helped them win the Premier League twice. He also won FA Cup, the EFL Cup three times and the Community Shield in 2019.

Raheem Sterling's net worth

Sterling is one of the richest members of the national team squad as his net worth is $45 Million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

However, these figures might get even higher as the player is in the peak at his career.

The Englishman earned his wealth during his stay at Liverpool and Manchester City, and his endorsement deals.

In 2018, Sterling signed a new deal with City, which will see him earn roughly £15 million a year. It was reported that Sterling's salary is £300,000 per week.
