Kalidou Koulibaly has been one of the finest defenders in the world in the recent years and many clubs tried to signed him, and now the English giants Manchester United and Chelsea have shown interest in the defender.
Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has thrown some light on the future of Arkadiusz Milik and Kalidou Koulibaly as there were many speculations that both of them are going to leave Napoli this season.
The Senegal international has established himself as one of the best defenders over the globe since his move from Genk in 2014. Koulibaly made a total of 173 Serie A appearances for Napoli.
However, his price has not dropped despite the coronavirus pandemic caused huge financial blow for many clubs.
Napoli's asking price for their best defender was set at £106 million and many reports claimed that it will drop to at least £80m due to the global health crisis, but apparently those claims have been dismissed.
“Kalidou is a great player, who still has a long contract with us,” Giuntoli told Sky in Italy via Football Italia.
“If we were to sell, the club could ask for a large sum. A player like this cannot change his value even in a crisis, so we are not moving our valuation.”
Meanwhile, Milik has been linked with a move to the Premier League as well, but this time with Arsenal and Tottenham showing interest.
Guintoli has confirmed that the Poland is going to leave Italy only if he could not agree a new deal with Napoli.
“The desire is to renegotiate his contract, so we are talking with his agents,” added Giuntoli.
“The objective is to resolve the situation, one way or another. If he doesn’t want to remain, then he will go on to the transfer market.
“Players can remain as long as they do so with the right mentality. Napoli will go forward, with or without Milik.”
