Frank Lampard's side have cooled the interest they've shown in the RB Leipzig star Timo Werner. That means that Liverpool are now potentially the favourites to sign the 24-year old German player, according to The Athletic.
In the recent months the Germany international has been linked with several Europe's top clubs, including Manchester United and Barcelona.
Timo Werner is having a great goalscoring season in the Bundesliga. The German has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season, making his one of the most dangerous strikers. It is obvious why big clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea want to sign him.
But according to some reports, the Blues have turned their focus elsewhere as they accept that Liverpool are the one who might sign the young player.
Here we are not talking about that Liverpool are ready to pay Werner's release clause which is £50 million. The main reason why Chelsea might think that Timo Werner probably would move to Merseyside is that the player has already stated that he really admires the Reds and he is proud to be linked with club like Liverpool.
Timo Werner was linked with the Red Devils recently, but for now Ole Gunnar Solskjær is not looking for a striker as he has Rashford, who will recover soon, Martial and they have Odion Ighalo on loan.
So for now the potential favourites are just Liverpool. Klopp's side definitely need a player like Werner as their forward player Roberto Firmino is having a poor season so far.
Liverpool definitely need more depth in attack so Werner could possibly turn out to be a great option for that.
The 24-year old player will be a great new addition to the club. Of course Klopp will face the difficulty to find him a spot in the starting XI, but if Firmino continues to play like that it won't be so hard.
