Angel Di Maria's wife, Jorgelina Cardoso, revealed that she absolutely hated living in in the ‘s**thole’ city, and even begged her husband not to join Manchester United.
The Argentinian forward signed with the Red Devils in 2014 for a British-record £59.7million, but his stay at Old Trafford lasted only for a year.
Since leaving United in 2015 to join Paris Saint-Germain, Di Maria has hit out at the Premier League giants on multiple occasions, and even with a Paris Saint-Germain teammate saying he can’t even watch the Red Devils on TV.
Apparently the Argentinian is not the only one who does not like United - his wife did not like the club either.
Recently, Jorgelina Cardoso revealed to the Spanish morning show Los Angeles de la Manana the things she hated in Manchester.
“I didn’t want to go to Manchester because at that moment in time, I was friends with Gianinna Maradona, who was married to Sergio Aguero, and we flew from Madrid to his house in Manchester to pay him a visit for two or three days when Angel had a few days off at Real Madrid.
“It was horrible! All of it was horrible, we went to the house and we were like, ‘See you later guys, we’re out of here’.
“When we left, I said to him, ‘Go to any country – except England!’
“Anyway, one year later and there we were in England and it was horrible, a s**thole. I didn’t like anything about it, not a thing.
“The food’s disgusting. All the girls are all dolled up to the nines, perfectly made-up and there’s me with my hair in a bun and with no make-up on.
“I remember Angel coming up and saying, ‘An offer from Manchester United has come in. Maybe we’ll be a little more financially secure.’
“There was a lot of money involved, and afterwards, the Spanish were calling us money grabbers. And they were right! If you are working for a company and the competition comes along and offers to pay you double, you take it!”
Things got worse when the family mansion in Cheshire was targeted by burglars in 2015. The whole family had to live in the Lowry Hotel, and Di Maria's wife even put the house up for sale as she was afraid to move back in.
In 2015, Di Maria moved to PSG for £44.3m deal and since then he has been a key player for the Parisians.
In all his 32 games for Manchester United the forward scored only four goals, but in comparison he have scored 80 goals in 217 games for the French team, and won nine major honours since his arrival.
