Fabio Cannavaro believes that in order Mbappe to become the next Ronaldo Real Madrid should sign him.
However, signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain seems to be impossible at this point.
The World Cup winner has been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu since last year. The PSG star has spent three years with the Parisians and he is one of the most wanted players.
Since Ronaldo left Real Madrid in 2018 to join Juventus, the Los Blancos find it very hard to find him a proper replacement.
Many believe, including Cannavaro, that Mbappe might be the one to inherit the Portuguese star, but in order to happen the 21-year-old Frenchman needs to departure from PSG and join the Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Cannavaro, who won two LaLiga titles with Madrid as a player, said for AS: "Real Madrid need players like Mbappe, a young star who could follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo."
"It's normal that Madrid want to sign him but it also has to be taken into account that PSG's owners don't need the money. They are ambitious and they want to win the Champions League.
"I think it will be difficult for Madrid to get him. The president of PSG is a person who wants to win, I know them well and they will fight tooth and nail to keep Mbappe."
Kylian Mbappe has helped the Parisians win three Ligue 1 titles, a Coupe de France and a Coupe de la Ligue since he joined them in 2017.
The young Frenchman has scored 30 goals in 33 games in all competitions this season before the current 2019/20 campaign was canceled due to the coronavirus.
